10/01/2020 - Virtual Education Committee Meeting

The Education Committee works to improve the future quality of your workforce by hosting valuable educational programs through local partnerships. Meetings include a presentation by featured speakers in the areas of Education, Job Training, Human Resources, Community Programs, and updates from our local partners.

The Education Committee coordinates interaction between businesses and the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and partners with private schools/colleges in the Conejo Valley.

This committee also leads our Teacher of the Month Program in partnership with CVUSD, where we honor educational excellence by rewarding teachers with a plaque in their name and gifts from Chamber Members. This is an opportunity for Chamber Members (you) to acknowledge our educators while also giving a brief description of your organization!

*Recipients are chosen by CVUSD*

This Month's Speaker: California Lutheran University - Cindy Keitel, Community Relations Coordinator

Cindy serves as a community liaison interacting with external organizations, business and civic leaders, and the neighbors.

She supports and promotes university programs including the Speakers Bureau and Community Leaders Association that sponsors the annual Hats & High Tea, Golf Tournament and Mathews Leadership Forum.

Consider attending this committee if:
-Your business is education-related.
-Your target client market is young families or educators.
-You have an interest in partnerships with education/workforce programs.

Contact Dan Garcia at dgarcia@conejochamber.org if you are interested in sponsoring this committee or if you would like to be added to the future meeting reminders.

Some messages from our group...

What makes the Conejo Valley special, unique or interesting?

I like to call Thousand Oaks "the biggest little town in the country." Even though its size is well over 100,000 residents, it still has a small town feel. You are liable to see someone you know every time you go out. I also like the fact that it has protected itself from the blight that has ruined so many other communities in Southern California by restricting things such as billboards, building structure and height, paid parking lots, and corner strip malls.
