Personalized College Choice provides consulting services to families of high school students and community college transfer students to help with the college application process. This counseling helps students choose a school, college, or other program that is a good personal match and will foster the student’s academic and social growth. Personalized College Choice adheres to the same professional standards as those of the college admission counseling professional associations, so students can trust that they are getting up-to-date, informed advice that is in their best interest.
Karen founded Personalized College Choice in 2010, wanting to continue supporting families in the field of Education after leaving her teaching job. As a former teacher, Karen has experience working with high school students to improve their time management skills and foster a growth mindset, skills that are essential for the college-bound teenager.
The families that have taken advantage of Personalized College Choice’s guidance couldn’t be more pleased, and all of the students Karen has worked with have stayed at their first choice college and graduated. With application deadlines coming up, Karen is excited to begin offering a series of virtual workshops for high school students and their parents in January. She is always looking for ways to support the families that seek her guidance, from offering assistance packages to seeking out partnerships with other businesses who are as passionate about supporting students and their families as she is.
Being a member of Synergy Business Connections and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce has certainly benefited Karen’s professional life. Karen met Harriet Cohen of Training Solutions through Synergy, and the two of them worked together to revise Karen’s business plan. Karen is also one of the sponsors of the Conejo Chamber’s “Teacher of the Month” program for the 20/21 school year. She looks forward to continuing to meet her fellow chamber members and is always on the lookout for a new connection or a chance to give a referral.
Personalized College Choice keeps Karen busy, but when she finds herself with free time, Karen enjoys devouring both fiction and nonfiction books, finding new historical movies and series on Netflix, and crocheting and knitting. Even idle time can be informative and productive!
